The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (2026)
The story begins in deep space at the Comet Observatory, where Princess Rosalina (voiced by Brie Larson) lives peacefully raising her family of star-like creatures called Lumas. The tranquility is shattered when the observatory is attacked by a massive robotic weapon sent by Bowser Jr. (voiced by Benny Safdie), who is determined to restore honor to his family name and conquer the universe. Rosalina is captured, and the Lumas are scattered across the cosmos.
Back on "Mushroom Earth," Mario (Chris Pratt) and Luigi (Charlie Day) are investigating mysterious occurrences near the Sand Kingdom's Inverted Pyramid. Through a series of chaotic events, they cross paths with their iconic, energetic new friend Yoshi. Before long, they reunite with Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy) and Toad (Keegan-Michael Key), only to find themselves suddenly launched into the far reaches of outer space.
Journey Through the Galaxies
Stranded in the cosmos, the team meets a cynical, nihilistic blue Luma named Lumalee and learns of Rosalina's capture. To save her and prevent the universe's destruction, Mario and his friends must travel from galaxy to galaxy (including nostalgic locations like the Honeyhive Galaxy). Along the way, they harness new space abilities—such as using Launch Stars to travel between planets—and run into familiar threats, including a vengeful, returning Bowser (Jack Black).
The Climax
Through teamwork, courage, and a deep-space showdown, Mario and his allies face off against the combined might of Bowser and Bowser Jr. With the help of the Lumas and Rosalina's cosmic magic, they manage to thwart the Koopas' universal threat, restoring peace to both the Mushroom Kingdom and the wider cosmos.
Fun Fact: The film officially crossed the coveted $1 billion mark at the global box office, making it one of the biggest commercial hits of 2026 and cementing Nintendo's cinematic universe.
