The End of Oak Street (2026) Movie

Here is a summary of the sci-fi survival film The End of Oak Street (2026), directed by David Robert Mitchell:

Premise & Initial Conflict

Set in July 1982 in the suburban neighborhood of Flowervale, Michigan, the story focuses on the Platt family: mother Denise (Anne Hathaway), an aspiring novelist secretly writing a manuscript about ending her marriage; father Greg (Ewan McGregor), who is secretly hiding his recent job loss; and their two children, Audrey (Maisy Stella) and Brian (Christian Convery).

Beneath the quiet surface of suburban life, weird phenomena begin occurring—prehistoric plants start growing overnight in backyards, and unusual light flashes rumble through the neighborhood.

The Inciting Incident

During a violent thunderstorm, a sudden blast of white light and atmospheric pressure engulfs Oak Street. When the storm passes, the residents discover that their entire neighborhood has been uprooted through time and space by wormholes, transporting the street millions of years into the past. The modern suburban streets are now surrounded by a dense prehistoric jungle inhabited by lethal dinosaurs and prehistoric predators.

Survival & Climax

As the neighborhood falls into chaos with dangerous creatures attacking the residents, the Platts board up their house and try to stick together. Forced to reconcile their personal issues, Denise and Greg open up about their secrets while trying to protect their children.

The family realizes that temporary wormholes periodically reopen near the neighborhood. During a desperate attempt to reach one of these portals, Greg is tragically killed saving his family from a dinosaur. Driven by survival, Denise, her children, and a neighbor's daughter jump through a newly opened wormhole to escape.

Resolution & Time Loop

The portal transports the family back to July 11, 1982—landing them 20 minutes before Oak Street is originally sent back in time. Equipped with knowledge of what is about to happen, Denise warns the residents to evacuate and rescues Greg before the event occurs.

Fast-forwarding two years, the military and scientists have cordoned off the localized prehistoric zone to study the phenomenon. Having successfully saved her family and published her account in a best-selling book titled The End of Oak Street, Denise and her family live a comfortable, reunited life.
